So you want to make money online eh?

And you’ve heard about Affiliate Marketing?

Good! You’ve heard about the BEST online business model a beginner can get started with…

…and in this article, I’m gonna break down exactly how you can get started in 5 EASY steps!

Let’s jump into it…

Step 1: Choose A Niche…

When you’re starting an affiliate marketing business the first thing you need to do is determine your niche.

Choosing a niche is going to allow you to be laser focused when marketing to your audience.

There are affiliate programs in nearly every niche you can think of. So one way of choosing is to pick whatever you’re interested in.

Any of your hobbies would be a good place to start. For example, maybe you enjoy playing guitar. That could be the niche you pursue.

Another way of picking a niche is to choose one of the three most profitable niches out there:

  • Health
  • Wealth
  • Love / Relationships

Most people find success within these three evergreen niches, but as I mentioned before, you don’t need to limit yourself to those three.

If your hobby is gardening, you could certainly create an affiliate marketing business around that topic.

Just make sure that whatever niche you choose is something that you enjoy because to make this business work, you’re going to be writing and talking about it when you create your content.

Step 2: Create A Blog And YouTube Channel…

The next step is to create an affiliate blog or YouTube channel that centers around whatever niche you chose to go with.

I actually recommend you create both at the same time and then link the two together which I’ll talk more about later.

If you’re unfamiliar with the process, it’s actually really easy to start a blog. All you need are 3 things:

  • A web hosting service…
  • A branded domain name…
  • WordPress installed on your website.

Now, there are tons of web hosting companies, but let me save you some time and recommend one of the best (and least expensive!) options out there…

I recommend you check out Bluehost for web hosting because it costs a whopping $3.95 per month AND they give you a free domain (they usually cost around $8 to $15 dollars per year).

After you’re signed up with Bluehost, you just click a button and BOOM! WordPress will be installed on your site and you’re ready to start blogging.

Aside from your blog, you should create a YouTube channel. Creating a YouTube channel is free and again…

I recommend branding the name of your channel so that it correlates to something in your niche.

Step 3: Research Affiliate Products In Your Niche…

The next thing you need to do is research affiliate products within your niche.

One way of doing this is to simply type your niche into Google along with the word affiliate or with “JV” which stands for “joint venture”.

But to be honest, there are 2 affiliate programs that I recommend you start with: Amazon Associates and Clickbank…

I like Amazon Associates for these reasons:

  • Amazon carries almost everything you can think of.
  • People already trust buying from Amazon.
  • Amazon is very good at getting people to buy multiple products.
  • Amazon’s affiliate program is easy to join (you probably won’t get denied approval to become an affiliate).

I like Clickbank for these reasons:

  • They have products in a wide variety of niches.
  • They’re a reputable company that’s been around for a long time.
  • They pay out higher commissions (typically) than Amazon.
  • They are also an easy affiliate program to join.

As you search out affiliate products and programs, you may find that not all affiliate programs will accept you at first.

Some programs want you to prove that you are an experienced marketer before they’ll allow you to market their products.

This is a problem, of course, if you’re brand new to affiliate marketing because you don’t have any digital marketing experience yet.

But if you stick to Amazon and ClickBank, you should get approved and you should be able to find quality products in your niche.

Step 4: Create Content…

Now that you have an affiliate blog and a YouTube channel you need to start creating content.

This content should be focused around questions and topics of interest in your niche, and it should be valuable to the people within your niche.

One way of connecting your YouTube channel and your blog is to create YouTube videos around topics that people are actively searching out online.

There are many keyword search tools that you can use to find what questions people are searching out and two free options that I like are:

  • Keywords Everywhere (which is a Chrome extension)
  • Answer The Public (long tail keyword search tool)

You use these tools to find long tail keywords and then start creating videos on YouTube that answer questions, review products, and just offer valuable advice.

Once you’ve created a YouTube video on a particular topic write a blog post about that topic as well and publish it on your website.

Then embed your YouTube video within your blog post.

This way any visitors you have on your website will have a chance to read your article and watch your YouTube video.

Once you have articles and videos relating to your niche, join related facebook groups and online forums.

Answer people’s questions in the groups and forums and link to your content that answers their questions.

The more people you have consuming your content, the better. Just remember to make your content valuable.

It really should be helping people within your niche and establish you as an expert or an authority.

Step 5: Suggest Products…

Now that you’ve created content for the people in your niche, you can start to suggest products that will help them.

Try to think of problems that exist and find products that solve them.

Review these products or explain why they’ll help those within your niche in blog articles and videos and direct people to your affiliate link.

Remember, you can search on Amazon and Clickbank or you can do a google search for affiliate products in your niche.

Just keep in mind that the way you make money as an affiliate marketer is by helping the people within your niche achieve their goals.

Bonus Step: Email Marketing…

If you want to make consistent commissions as an affiliate marketer there’s really one more step you should include.

Start building an email list of people in your niche.

The way you do this is by giving away something that they will find valuable in exchange for their email address.

Common examples of free giveaways are:

  • reports
  • trainings
  • ebooks
  • cheat sheets
  • recipes

It can really be anything that has real value and is going to help the people within your niche.

You capture their email by creating what’s called a ‘squeeze page’…

A squeeze page is a web page that offers your free giveaway in exchange for an email address.

This allows you to build a list of subscribers that you can contact via email.

I use a program called Clickfunnels to build my squeeze pages, and I connect it to a program called Getresponse, which I use for email marketing.

Once you have a list of email subscribers, you can build a relationship with them, continue to offer them valuable information, and market helpful affiliate products to them.
